My base camp was at Silverton Colorado - lower right side of map. Many high paved & non-paved elevation passes are easily accessible from Silverton.
Black Bear pass is considered a dangerous pass. The section known as the steps is considered "expert" only.
Look at that beautiful road ahead of me.
Reached the top of the pass. This section has always been considered the easy section.
Road and sections on the other side.
Down the road a bit shows more fun.
First set of 4x4ers to pass.
The road behind me showing the 4x4ers I passed.
Road behind me.
Finally get a glimpse of Telluride in the distance. A sign the infamous steps are not too far.
Heading down towards the steps. Getting step and rocky.
Top of the steps. The camera doesn't show how steep these are or how high the steps are. Time to stand and hold on tight.
Pic showing steps behind me. Camera doesn't show how high each step is. or how steep the trail is here.
Made it down the bottom. Couldn't take pictures as I was holding on to my handle bars too tight down the steep section. So I took pics of the group of 4x4ers behind me.
Guiding your buddies down the steps was very common.
